The Eastern Illinois University (EIU) Booth Libraryworks with the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) to reconfigure the catalog records of new library materials into a format that can be tailored for increased access and use, thus creating value-added content and service.
From CARLI, the EIU Booth Library receives a monthly list of new materials that have been cataloged. Working with the library’s information technology staff and subject bibliographers,the catalog record information is reformatted for inclusion on the web and posted as a news item in the University Newsletter. Additionally, subject bibliographers use the lists to identify items of interest to faculty and send out customized e-mail alerts.
